City Showcase, the UK’s Leading Festival for New Music,
Seeks Talented Musicians and Designers
27 November 2006 - City Showcase, London’s leading festival for new music, is now looking for up-and-coming musicians to take part in its annual week-long event in June (4-8 June 2007).
City Showcase was launched in 2003 with one aim in mind - to help emerging musicians move into the commercial world of the music industry. With five successful events behind it, City Showcase’s reputation is now firmly established as the festival to see tomorrow’s talent today.
This event provides public exposure, advice and mentoring, plus the crucial contacts that aspiring talent needs - with the festival culminating in a series of live events in venues in the West End. Musicians have the opportunity to perform in West End stores and gigs at legendary venues such as the Borderline and The 100 Club.
There are a series of workshops and seminars, bringing together aspiring talent with the top movers and shakers from the music industry. City Showcase also hosts a series of regional auditions across London, where performers are given critiques by top influencers from the music business, and a select few are chosen to perform at the week long West End festival.
In addition, City Showcase has teamed up with promoter of oriental musicians, Shortie Entertainment (www.shortieent.com), to host a showcase during the festival week. This will offer opportunities to oriental artists who want to make their mark in the music industry by displaying their talent in front of live audiences, talent scouts and the media.
“It is great to see a festival dedicated to the discovery of new music and new talent – it was a fantastic night - thank you City Showcase” Simon Webbe from Blue and Damo - Managers of Lyrican @ UK Team
City Showcase’s reputation as a top talent spotter has been sealed since its launch in 2003. This has given the festival credibility and a profile to match. Previous acts that have played at City Showcase - and have subsequently gone on to great acclaim - include: Keane, Razorlight, Rooster, Rishi Rich Project, Akala, Amy Winehouse, Hot Chip, Sway, Remasterpiece, Panjabi Hit Squad and Lady Sovereign.
And it’s not just about music- it’s fashion too! City Showcase also continues to forge strong collaborations between new and emerging fashion designers and musicians who wear specially commissioned pieces whilst performing. Past designers have included Hannah Marshall, Julia Clancey, Oliver Goddard, Lucy Hanks, Tonic T-shirts, Craven Gene and Born in ’72. City Showcase is also looking for designers to be part of the 2007 event.
Want to be part of City Showcase?
In 2007 City Showcase is pleased to be collaborating with Record of The Day in order to further extend its search for new talent.
